West Covina residents have access to several local recycling center options, including specialized buyback centers for cash and free city-sponsored events for hazardous waste and electronics.

1. Cash for Cans & Bottles (CRV)

For California Refund Value (CRV) redemptions, these are the primary local facilities. Note that some centers may pay based on count (up to 50 containers of each material) or by weight for larger loads.

2. Household Hazardous Waste & E-Waste

Hazardous items (paint, motor oil, batteries) and electronics cannot be placed in your trash or recycling bins.

City Drop-Off Events 

The City of West Covina hosts specific e-waste and document shredding events at the City Maintenance Yard (825 S. Sunset Ave) and Senior Center (2501 E. Cortez St).

• Permanent Option: Residents can also use the Washington Blvd S.A.F.E. Center (2649 E. Washington Blvd, LA) every Saturday and Sunday for free drop-offs.

Retailer E-Waste Drop-off

• Best Buy: 1800 Plaza Dr, West Covina. Accepts most electronics (TVs, computers, monitors) for recycling daily.

• Office Depot: 2620 E. Workman Ave. Accepts cell phones, printers, and ink cartridges.

3. Curbside Services (Athens Services)

West Covina is serviced by Athens Services.

• Blue Bin (Recycling): Place items loose. Accepts clean paper/cardboard, glass bottles/jars, and plastic containers #1, #2, and #5.

• Green Bin (Organics): You should place all food scraps (meat, dairy, produce) in the green bin along with yard waste to comply with state law SB 1383.

• Free Bulky Item Pickups: Residential and multi-family customers are eligible for free bulky item pickups (up to 5 items per week).

4. Shredding & Document Disposal
