Whether you're looking for cash back on cans, a place to drop off old paint, or a scrap metal yard, Murrieta has several specialized facilities.

1. CRV & Bottle/Can Redemption

For California Redemption Value (CRV) cash back, there are a few local options. It is always a good idea to call ahead as redemption centers can change locations or hours frequently.

  • Hours: Mon–Fri: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM; Sat/Sun: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

• Nearby Options: There are additional "CRV Sites" in neighboring Temecula (Hwy 79) and Menifee (Newport Rd) if you are near the city borders.

2. Household Hazardous Waste (ABOP)

Murrieta has a dedicated facility for Antifreeze, Batteries, Oil, and Paint (Latex).

• Murrieta ABOP & PaintCare Facility:

  • Address: 25315 Jefferson Avenue (County Road Yard)

  • Hours: Saturdays only, 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM (closed holiday weekends).

  • Accepted: Antifreeze, car and household batteries, motor oil/filters, and latex/oil-based paint.

  • Note: They do not accept electronics, pesticides, or "true" hazardous chemicals here; those require a county HHW event.

3. Scrap Metal & Large Items

If you have larger metal items, appliances, or construction debris:

• SA Recycling (Murrieta):

  • Address: 41400 Date St, Murrieta, CA 92562

  • Hours: Mon–Fri: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM; Saturday: 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM

  • Accepted: All types of scrap metal (copper, aluminum, steel), appliances (Freon must be removed first), and even old vehicles.

• Waste Management (Inland Empire): As the city's franchised hauler, you can contact them at 800-423-9986 for bulky item pickups or information on curbside recycling.

4. Electronics (E-Waste)

While the ABOP facility doesn't take electronics, you can often drop them off at:

• Local Events: The City of Murrieta often hosts a Community Cleanup Event in the spring and fall at City Hall where E-waste and bulky items are accepted for free.
